WHAT IS A FIRESTOP?

Whenever pipes, cables or other similar services are run through a fire-rated floor or wall there is a creation of a penetration which, if not fire-stopped, would compromise the fire rating of that floor or wall. A Quickstop™ firestop device prevents the spread of smoke and flames through such penetration. A firestop is any certified device that prevents fire and smoke from spreading from one side of a fire-rated barrier to the other. Quickstop™ firestop devices are third party tested and certified to ensure that they meet or exceed specific industry standards.

Why Firestop?
The purpose of a firestop device is to restore the fire-rated wall/floor to its original pre-penetration fire rating. It is critical to firestop in order to maintain the structure to its original design and intended use integrity. Most common firestopping requirements are for one, two, or three hours.
